Born in Baku, Azerbaijan, Sakina awakened to fashion as a young girl sitting by her grandmother’s side, where she would turn the handle of her grandmother’s sewing machine as her grandmother worked. Over time, Sakina’s grandmother taught her the art of dressmaking and opened her eyes to the colorful world of women’s fashion. Beginning as a toy, her grandmother’s sewing machine grew to become a hobby and, eventually, a part of Sakina’s life forever.
For 10 years, Sakina has worked for an international art magazine, and in banks and international consulting, dreaming of opening her own fashion house. Together with her husband, Mahir Iskender, Take 5 Boutique realizes that dream.
Sakina is bringing the unique and fresh approaches of Europe’s high-fashion districts to the nation’s capital. She believes in the importance of presentation and dress and understands its daily significance to the women of Washington, D.C. Sakina knows that style is eternal. Her boutique will be a place to share her passion for fashion and her eye for styling. Take 5 clients will enjoy fresh, fashion forward styles but also personalized stylist consultations and services.
Sakina and Mahir have two beautiful daughters, Zahra and Pisteh. Sakina named her newborn daughter, Pisteh, after her grandmother in hopes that one day her daughter will be as fashionable as her namesake.
Office meeting… Got my pencil!
What can make a woman look more elegant, chic and sophisticated other than pencil skirt! You look tall, slim and gives perfect posture. Below knee length and side cut make it look and feel very feminine. Plus very professional!
I am wearing off black pencil skirt (from Istanbul) and beige silk blouse (Banana Republic) and pairing it with my beautiful pumps (Enzo). Easy and fast.
My husband and I were invited to our friend’s Art Design Studio grand opening in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware about a week ago. We had a great time enjoying the art and making lots of friends. But all the fun started before getting to the venue.
It was a tough choice. After all it’s a place with full of creative modern art and I had to make sure I blend in and at the same time stand out. After going through pile of clothes I ended up with this gorgeous 2 sided dress. This dress is blank white in the back and printed silk in front. It is an A shaped dress. But wearing it with gold metal belt totally transformed it from daytime to cocktail dress. At the end paired it with white and brown pumps. All done!
Rock the Print Harem Pants
I absolutely love prints: Dresses, shirts, pants… anything! Sometimes it can be hard to find a right match with prints. Usually, I go with solid. Not only to bring out the prints but not to look too busy on eye.
I paired my brown toned silk blended cotton print harem pants with beige satin top. Harem pants make you look at least size bigger on hips. That’s why I’d recommend heels with them especially if you are shorter. That way you don’t look bigger and shorter. Heels balance the overall look and give great posture.
